Microsoft described in detail Thursday exactly how Windows will work on ARM devices. The new strain of Windows, retooled from the ground up for low-power devices like tablets, will be identical to the regular desktop version in many ways, and Microsoft says itll ship some test units to developers by the end of February. Actual products are planned for the general release of Windows 8.

In a departure from traditional Windows machines, ARM-based devices running Windows will be complete end-to-end products, meaning you wont be able to buy Windows as a piece of software separate from those devices it comes fully integrated.

Two new version numbers of Windows Phone 7 have surfaced via records on the WP Bench benchmarking application.

Previously, version 8107 had been reported, which will rollout on carrier request to fix privacy and keyboard hiccups, but now versions 7.10.8745 and 7.10.8714 have cropped up in the WP Bench app data.

The data suggests 8745 is running on an HTC 7 Pro.

There’s no clear indication at this point of what these new Windows Phone updates aim to fix, or if they’re even legit, but they’re both higher ranked than any previously mentioned version number.
